We are pleased to present you with a unique walking tour of Warsaw, prepared for those who want to discover the city through the stories of extraordinary people and their influence on culture. This time we will follow in the footsteps of Salomea Kruszelnicka - a world-famous singer whose talent contributed to the fame of Stanisław Moniuszko's "Halka" and permanently entered the history of Polish opera. Our walk is a story about places where art intertwines with politics, and the artist's courage contrasts with the difficult reality of the partition times. We will reveal little-known facts from her life, remind her of the fight to preserve Polish culture and show how important a role music played in building national identity.
The publication was created as part of the project "Stories at the interface. Warsaw thematic walks" implemented by the Open House Initiative Foundation, co-financed by the Polish History Museum in Warsaw as part of the "Patriotism of Tomorrow" program.
