We present to you the final walking guide in the “Stories at the Crossroads” series: “A Black General, Defender of Warsaw’s Praga – A Walk in the Footsteps of Władysław Jabłonowski.”
It is the conclusion of our series and at the same time an invitation to an extraordinary journey into the past.
We will set out to Warsaw’s Praga district following the footsteps of Władysław Franciszek Jabłonowski – one of the first Black generals in European history, who defended the city during the Kościuszko Uprising.
We will recount the events of November 4, 1794, which forever changed the fate of this part of Warsaw, and the role Jabłonowski played in them – a remarkable yet still little-known figure.
The publication was created as part of the project “Historie na styku. Warszawskie spacery tematyczne” carried out by Fundacja Inicjatywa Dom Otwarty, funded by Muzeum Historii Polski in Warsaw under the program „Patriotyzm Jutra”.
